BIOGRAPHY

I received my Ph.D. at Syracuse University in 1990 and after spending three years at Idaho State University as a postdoctoral fellow, I returned to SU as a Research Assistant professor in 1993, then began tenure track Assistant Professor position in 1997.

I teach General Ecology (Bio 451), a lecture / discussion course, and an Ecology field / laboratory course (Bio 453). Perhaps my greatest teaching pleasure, though, is interacting with undergraduates that conduct independent research in my lab. I'm also the advisor for the Environmental Science Program in the Biology Department.

My professional interests and work include plant/ecosystem ecology with an emphasis on plant-herbivore interactions. For more information about my research interests and current projects, please click here.

I have several hobbies, including hiking, birdwatching, bicycling, and flyfishing.
